Tandem is a business tool. It shows no advertising, and we do not use cookies to track you across other websites. This notice explains what Tandem stores on your device and why: on our website at tandemops.net, in the Office app at app.tandemops.net and the desktop app, and in the Mobile app. It is published by Ryan Daynes, trading as Tandem. Questions go to privacy@tandemops.net.
1. Cookies we set
Sign-in cookie (sb-<project>-auth-token, split into numbered parts when it is large). Set on the website and in the Office app to keep you signed in and to let our servers check what you may access. It lasts until you sign out, and your browser keeps it for at most 400 days. Strictly necessary, so no consent is needed.
Sign-in link cookie (sb-<project>-auth-token-code-verifier). Completes a secure sign-in, email confirmation or password reset link. It is removed once the sign-in completes. Strictly necessary.
Quote link cookie (tandem_quote_grant). Lets a customer who opened a secure quote link keep viewing and responding to that quote. It is sent only to quote pages, cannot be read by scripts, and lasts 30 days. Strictly necessary.
We set no other cookies. Payment pages are hosted by Stripe on Stripe's own website, under Stripe's cookie policy. If our hosting provider's firewall ever needs to check that a visitor is not an automated attack, it may set a short-lived security cookie.
2. Other storage in your browser
The Office app also keeps the following in your browser. None of it is sent to us automatically.
Interface preferences, in local storage: appearance, sidebar width and open sections, form panel width, schedule layout, map size and map filters, and collapsed charts. They remember how you set the app up, and last until you change them or clear your browser's site data. They do what you asked, so no consent is needed.
A retry key for document emails, in local or session storage. It stops a quote or invoice being emailed twice if you retry after a network failure. It holds the document reference and recipient address and is deleted once the email is sent. Strictly necessary.
Navigation details, in session storage, for the start-up screen and the page to return to after Settings. Cleared when you close the tab. Strictly necessary.
A schedule copy, in IndexedDB (tandem-schedule-query-cache). It shows your schedule quickly and while your connection is poor. It holds only schedule information you are already allowed to see, is cleared when you sign out or your access changes, and is removed after a year without use. Strictly necessary.
Map storage, set by Mapbox, which draws the maps in the Office app: an anonymous identifier in local storage that is replaced every 24 hours, and a cache of map images. Mapbox uses the identifier to count map loads, which is how it measures the maps we pay for, and caches images so maps load faster. It is not used for advertising or to follow you across websites. It is only set on pages that show a map, and we treat it as needed to provide the map you asked to see.
3. Storage in the Mobile app
- Your sign-in, kept in your phone's secure keychain on that phone only, to keep you signed in. Strictly necessary. - An encryption key, kept in the secure keychain on that phone only, which protects job, visit and time information stored for offline working. Strictly necessary. - Offline databases on your phone, holding your assigned work, and evidence, forms and job updates you captured offline, until they reach Tandem. Strictly necessary for offline working. - App settings and status: which notices you have acknowledged, location and site-arrival settings, break and reminder state, and unfinished form drafts. Strictly necessary, or they do what you asked. - A notification token, so we can deliver the notifications you allow. You control it in your phone's settings. - Downloaded app updates, to keep the app current. Strictly necessary.
4. What we do not use
We do not use advertising, analytics, cross-site tracking or session-replay technology on our website, in the Office app or in the Mobile app.
5. Why we do not ask for consent
The law allows storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for without consent. Signing you in, keeping you signed in, enforcing permissions, remembering choices you made in the app, and holding work you captured offline until it can be saved all fall into that category. Without them Tandem cannot work. That is why you will not see a cookie banner.
6. If this changes
If we ever add analytics or any other storage that is not strictly necessary, we will update this notice first and give you a clear choice before it is used. Where the law allows such storage without consent, for example statistics used only to improve our service, we will still tell you about it and give you a simple way to object. Acknowledging a legal notice is never treated as consent to cookies.
7. Managing storage yourself
Your browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and site data, and your phone's settings control app storage.
Before clearing Tandem's storage on a phone, make sure your work has synced. Clearing app or site data can lose evidence and job updates captured offline that have not yet reached Tandem. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you signing in.
On a shared computer, sign out when you finish. Signing out removes your sign-in and the schedule copy. Interface preferences stay in that browser until you clear its site data.
8. Questions and complaints
Email privacy@tandemops.net or use our complaints form at https://app.tandemops.net/complaints. We acknowledge complaints within 30 days and respond without undue delay. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.
